While attempting to beat Dune Teardrinker and Master Hoff of Polymock battles, I got disconnected twice in each battle about a minute into it.
Didn't happen at all for these last few days around the exact same time and area (Asura side of EotN).

It may well be - like has happened in the past - an international node that is having troubles.

I lol'd.
The world is ~18,000 miles around. Even if I was on the equator, with an ArenaNet server right next to me, but had my computer hooked up to a cable that went aaaaalll the way around the equator to the server next to me, it still wouldn't be "tens of thousands of miles" (which implies at least 20,000 or more).
Geography ftw.

I guess you assume the cabling runs in a straight lines? And you are about 6,000 miles off, it's 24,901.55 miles a the equator.
I'm in Kentucky and didn't experience a single lag spike in the 3 hours I was on GW this evening. A friend in Florida experienced many lag spikes.
If you truly want to know anything about where your lag is occurring, do a trace route or pathping.

REGINA:
The Network Operations team reports that there have been no issues with the servers or the network on our end in the past serveral days. There are any number of problems that could happen between your computer and our servers and back that could cause lag or disconnects. If you are experiencing lag, the best thing you can do so that we can investigate to see whether there is a problem is to report it to Customer Support.
If you are experiencing problems, please report them to Customer Support. If more people reported problems, they would be able to aggregate the reports to see if there are problems on our end and where those problems are.
ME:
Awesome 8/8 of people in my uwsc group from my guild got hit the exact time with 3 seperate cases of lag were it completely froze gwars. Still going on right now gg.
Edit: 5 mins later - 2 more times it happens - regardless of what your ping is, hey at least uw is hard now
2 mins later - 2 more yay

Actually... a... serious... problem...???
Dude, like thousands of ppl around the world is dying due to the lack of clean drinking water, EVERY DAY! THAT, my friend, is a serious problem!
This is a vidoegame. We, not beeing able to play the game, is NOT a serious problem. That's just annoying, nothing else. As Lyynyyrd said, we don't know what's causing it, stupid thread indeed.
Get outdoors and play some soccer with your friends, perhaps Anet have fixed the issue when you gt back in

I've been deathlevelling charr for the past week, setting them up before I go to sleep, killing them in the morning and then setting them up before I leave for work, to kill them early in the evening. Just one disconnect in 6 days, on the American servers.
Seems pretty OK to me.

I've had really bad server problems this last week or so. Regular 30-60 second timeouts and DCs. Farming the UW or playing in HM is basically impossible. The guild vanquishes we have tried this last week almost inevitably end up with a member or two getting dropped back into town before we are halfway through.
Very frustrating and def server side.

I haven't been on recently so i can't comment on the server problems but.....
Everyone who is getting lag problems, go to support and report it, the more people who report it (With as much detail as possible), the faster they can figure out the problem and fix it.
tell people in towns/your guild/alliance etc to do that as well, better to do that than complain imo

Can somebody remind me please, what's the type-in run command that creates the text file with the diagnostic report for your internet connection to the game server?
[edit] got it
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -diag

Alas, having a quad-core didn't stop me and several of my alliance members getting numerous lag-spikes and d/c's yesterday...

Why don't you people exhaust every other method of diagnosing your connections before blaming Anet - there are myriads of problems that can be the cause of a faulty connection, the only one Anet have control over is their own server(s) - it is fine for many many other players, you guys just come here to look for a quick fix instead of following proper procedures for getting a faulty connect diagnosed.
Just for the record, I'm from Au as well - just about as far from the Anet servers you can get and I am also experiencing ZERO problems.
